RECAP: I enjoyed our Christmas tunes this week, and literally was out of breath singing “Gloria” (or “Angels We Have Heard on High”) by Mercy Me. Bart, their lead singer can sing high. But, at 8:30 AM it is quite breathtaking. When I did the welcome for the first service I had to pause and restart do to being light headed after singing over a minute of high notes! Merry Christmas. SET LIST: This set is all Christmas, but one tune from Mark Roach called “You Are.” I felt we needed a call to worship to focus us on the “hope of peace on earth” and “every questions answer” before we went into the Christmas set. You Are – Mark Roach Joy To The World (original arr.) Gloria – Mercy Me O Come All Ye Faithful – arr. Third Day The First Noel – traditional I Heard the Bells- arr. Mercy Me How was your Christmas worship service?
RECAP: This weekend seemed to get started slowly since I took last week off. Once I warmed up, however, the team carried things and our service was another meaningful time together. Mel Grams, our resident wise sage of the ministry inspired us by teaching this week. It is amazing to see a currently-minded yet older man preach and seize the room with the gift God has given him to preach. We lit the Advent candles this week, our focus on the shepherds. An elder lit it with the reference to this group of men being our “shepherds” and leaders. I thought that was a nice touch. Our church has never used the Advent lighting, but it seems to fit this year really well. Our theme, “The Arrival” will end with a special candle lighting service for Christmas Eve. SET LIST: This week we added more Christmas carols and hymns to the mix. O Come Let Us Adore Him (chorus a capella) Come, Now is The Time to Worship – Doerksen Today is the Day – Brewster O Come All Ye Faithful – (arr. Third Day) Hark the Herald Angels Sing Angels We Have Heard On High We Fall Down -Tomlin What about Christmas worship moves you the most? [My friend Fred has set lists from churches all over the place. ]
Mike Dalton did a recap this week.. Worship Recap and Setlist for 12/07/08 So with Rich AWOL this week, just kidding Rich, I will do the worship recap. We are in the middle of our Advent Series and today we lit the Mary candle, Tammy Kirkpatrick read a great passage and Emilie Kirkpatrick lit the candle in the services, it really is bringing the focus on the excitement of the birth of Jesus in our church. Greg Sidders delivered a message on the Virgin Mary, really great stuff on forgiveness and listening to God and how people hear God more when they are in The Word. The music time was great, we had an old friend join us this week, Keri Martin who just rocks the place every time she sings with us. Ben and Bob lead, I love the whole multiple leader concept, was a great Sunday. Sing To The King- Passion Famous One- Tomlin Glorious- Tomlin (Passion Version) Gloria- Mercy Me version O Come All Ye Faithful- Third Day arrangement Great Sunday for all.
