Recap: This week was the beginning of a new era for Sunridge Community Church. Britt Sipe, our Interim Pastor brought it home with a message about change: Change Happens. The room was electric and once again I heard our people sing out, shout out and participate. God is about to do something very special during this season of transition. We are so fortunate to have a leader like Britt take us through this time. Today I had a friend and fellow worship leader from Orange, CA sit in with us and co-lead the worship music. Chad Markley for his day job owns a consulting business in the technology field. It was a treat to have a friend of mine come in and our church was blessed by his leadership. Thanks Chad! Another element of interest this week was a bumper video for the sermon with a series of pictures of Mel Gram’s life from birth to today. Set List: This week was about change and the hope was that our songs would reflect the words we needed to sing to God during this season. Everybody Praise the Lord – Lincoln Brewster Glory to God Forever – Fee Band You Never Let Go – Matt Redman Jesus Messiah – Chris Tomlin Everlasting God – Brenton Brown Links: Chad Markley’s blog Planning Center worship production flow Fred’s…
Worship Recap: This morning we had Britt Sipe teach as Greg was gone celebrating his anniversary. (Congrats to him and Robin!). Britt talked about penguins…or, you are just gonna have to listen to the podcast. My daughter helped lead this morning with me, taking lead on the last part of the worship set and rousing us to celebrate our King with “Sing to the King”. Emilie loves leading worship and it is awesome to see your child grow into leadership in anything, but especially in ministry! Set List: We introduced a new song by Lincoln Brewster, “Let Your Glory Shine” which really grooved. Again, Sunridge is so blessed to have a worship team like we do! Let Your Glory Shine – Lincoln Brewster Salvation is Here – Hillsong United O Worship The King – Kristian Stanfill Chris Tomlin Sing to the King – Billy Foote/Candy Pearon You Are My King – Billy Foote Links: Our Planning Center Set Sunridge Worship Page Fred’s blog has other set lists to peruse! RECAP: Today we finished our sermon series entitled “Bounce”–I think many were encouraged by talking about how to bounce back. With our economy and society having negative numbers and attitudes, the church has so much to offer with relationships. One fun thing today was to do the “God is good…ALL the time” chant with the crowd. I mixed it up a bit and randomly said things like “You stock portfolio might be down…but..(cue congregation” GOD IS GOOD.” This surely is appropriate given that we live by faith and not the stock market. One funny quip was when I seated the church and said “You may have seated”–the chuckles were worth the mess up. 😉 SET LIST: We did once more Mark Roach’s “As Long As I Have You” as the anchor song for our series. Today Is The Day – Lincoln Brewster As Long As I Have You – Mark Roach You Are Good – Israel Houghton You Gave Your Life Away – Paul Baloche, Kathryn Scott Blessed Be Your Name – Matt Redman How did you celebrate God being good in the midst of gloomy news lately? Recap: This weekend was a family affair with both my wife and daughter helping me lead worship on Sunday. Because this is the “Christmas hangover” week for us involved in Christmas Eve services. (By the way, we had a GREAT evening on Christmas Eve.) The hangover week meant we had to work without a full rehearsal. I am very pleased in our tech and music teams at the consistency and commitment they have to make a Sunday like today work so well. New Year means a change to refocus on the priorities we have and Mark Strauss of Bethel Seminary in San Diego reminded us at Sunridge of that fact with the message he delivered. Mark has been with us a couple years in a row on this weekend. Thanks to Mark for his words and encouragement to us today. Set List: The songs this weekend were tried and true except for one original I wrote that was introduced early in 2008 called “This Sacred Place.” Our worship set was put together to get us to decide to focus on Christ as our ” go to” instead of anything else. Let The Praises Ring – Lincoln Brewster I Will Boast – Paul Baloche All We Need – Charlie Hall This Sacred Place – Rich Kirkpatrick Everlasting God – Brenton Brown How was your worship weekend?
Recap: Sunday was another great day, with Greg finishing up the teaching part of our series and calling us to give love away. Recap: Sunday at Sunridge was yet another week in our Give Love Away series. The connection between loving God and others was explained. Is loving God enough? One highlight Sunday was a report from the Nepal missions team. The team planted churches last year as well as this year. Over 100 people came to Christ since then with people hearing the name of “Jesus” for the first time. Set List: Our songs this weekend were meant to encourage our congregation to act in love. Here are the tunes.
