I wanted to write a simple note and simply say thank you to my family, friends and fellow sojourners. Blogging for over nine years brought me encounters with many of you who might have never met. These have proven to be life-changing. My thinking has been challenged and my soul enriched by meaningful conversations and personal encounters. Imagine a pub where good friends hang out and discuss important ideas. This is how the journey has proven to unfold for me here on RKblog.com.
However important all of you have been, my family is my greatest treasure. Anything I might have to offer you has been sourced from the love, support, and wisdom hashed out from our kitchen table in our humble home. This year, we are unable to spend time with extended family, leaving the four of us to celebrate in a small way. From Oregon to Pennsylvania, to Georgia and Iowa, Nevada, and up in Northern and Central California we miss you all!
Small celebrations still matter so I have to get back to the cooking, eating, gaming, and other activities. It’s amazing how much volume our family of four produces! Our daughter, Emilie is close to finishing her college degree in graphic arts. Ethan, our son, towers as a 16-year-old passing six feet. And, Copper the Dog recently celebrated his 10th birthday. My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary this past year. Yes, we have so much to gratitude to express.
Indeed, I thank God for bringing you across our path. Truly, God puts flesh to himself by your support, prayers, and friendships. As Advent celebration begins, we feel the longing not just for Christ but also to see many of you this next year. “God with us” means the touch we have with one another and to the world matters even in the smallest way. The precious arrival of the Word made flesh is now represented in each of us. Let us all aspire to seize the small opportunities while living the biggest dreams.
Peace to you!
