After taking two weeks out for cre:ate conference and a visit with mom, I am back in the saddle leading worship today. As usual, our team delivers the goods–energy, passion and fun. After hearing professional worship artists, worship leaders and visiting some huge churches I have to say that I am pretty satisfied and impressed with our team here at Sunridge.
There was a spy in our midst! Well, not really. Matt Anderson, a friend and young worship/youth pastor in Sacramento, flew down to SoCal to check out our church and hang out with me. He did do some secret shopping with our church…and…uhm…let just say we can improve on a couple areas. Otherwise, he was very impressed. I value the opinion of a 24-year-old guy like Matt quite a bit, since I know he is usually brutally honest. One idea I hope we accomplish–Matt suggested we put tables in the back of the auditorium. Nice.
Yoda made an impression again. I have a Yoda hidden behind my monitor speaker on the stage. We were interviewing a military chaplain we support. He could not resist almost busting up on the stage upon seeing Yoda and saying to me, “Your mentor?.” It was great!
Of course, the message was great as you always expect from Greg Sidders. We are back in Romans 9 right now. And, I think our people were getting into our worship time pretty well today. One thing I shared with our people today was that we come each week to dialog with God. I shared my hope that they would not let this opportunity to talk with God pass them by.
