Transition “Confessional”: when the worship leader talks

This is the “talk” I did as a worship leader this past weekend (12/16)and I strung it together to help me evaluate but thought it might be useful for some of my blog readers and friends, too. The talking is less than 3 minutes, but every word counts in a 75 minute service once you multiply it out per person listening.

  13. There’s a difference between talking and teaching, you are teaching people to be free in their worship and it is showing. We thank God everyday for bringing you to Sunridge and into our lives. Christmas rehearsal was awesome by the way, two more rehearsals and we will have what we need, God is so great.

  17. Really cool to see you leading worship with your daughter man. Makes me really look forward to Caleb being old enough to do that!
And a good reminder that those transitions and teaching moments really are an important time in what we do. Thanks for sharing.

  21. great first segment…we really need a reminder that we are there worshiping corporately. Sometimes we feel alone, even in church. Your daughter is beautiful and I love that she can bring the harmony already. I also have to say, your hair is bangin’. Like it longer. Gives you a little grit.Let’s see, anything else?
Oh yes, thanks for the well wishes on my surgery.

  25. I agree with Jamey on the teaching angle. Whether you’re leading a crowd with old Christians, new Christians or pre-Christians, using the “speak” to remind/teach about why we worship is crucial. Well, done, I say.
I came to this point of agreement after restoring my equilibrium post spinning chair intro….
