Today at Sunridge we completed the first five chapters in Romans with a Greg Sidders asking whether we were on Adam’s team or Jesus’ team. The Boston Red Sox won the World Series. Every player on the team gets the prize whether or not they made the play that won the game. Same with us. With Adam we get his due, but with Jesus we gain eternal life. Check out the sermon online here.
Communion does not happen too often in our church. We took it "intinction" style, which is where you dip the wafer in the wine (or grape juice in our case). We sang a couple songs as people came forward. My only thought was that I wished some would take their time. Efficiency is not always the goal in worship. Right?
For the prelude, we played an original song that we created through improv on Thursday night at practice. Our song set’s theme was "The Name of Jesus" and so the lyric was "Jesus…higher than any other name." It really seemed to groove and warm the people to worship.
Here’s the songs from today:
- Let God Arise – Chris Tomlin
- Matchless – Aaron Shust
- Your Name is Holy – Brian Doerksen
- The Wonderful Cross – Isaac Watts/Chris Tomlin
- Nothing But the Blood – Matt Redman
- Your Name – Paul Baloche and Glen Packium
How was your worship weekend?
