Worship Set List – 11/4/07: Communion, Boston Red Sox and Improv

Worshipbnnr

Today at Sunridge we completed the first five chapters in Romans with a Greg Sidders asking whether we were on Adam’s team or Jesus’ team.  The Boston Red Sox won the World Series. Every player on the team gets the prize whether or not they made the play that won the game.  Same with us.  With Adam we get his due, but with Jesus we gain eternal life.  Check out the sermon online here.

Communion does not happen too often in our church.  We took it "intinction" style, which is where you dip the wafer in the wine (or grape juice in our case). We sang a couple songs as people came forward.  My only thought was that I wished some would take their time.  Efficiency is not always the goal in worship.  Right?

For the prelude, we played an original song that we created through improv on Thursday night at practice.  Our song set’s theme was "The Name of Jesus" and so the lyric was "Jesus…higher than any other name."  It really seemed to groove and warm the people to worship.

Here’s the songs from today:

How was your worship weekend?

  1. Cool- we opened with Let God Arise this morning too.
And regarding the efficiency thing- yes, I’m with you. In our church we have a tight schedule because of services that happen in a row (and some overlapping) that the same pastor preaches at. All too many weeks I find myself watching the clock more than paying attention to the Lord.

    Thankfully, not this week.

  5. Improving a prelude sounds pretty sweet. Do you have a sound byte of that?

  9. Hi Rich,It was an awesome worship weekend for NCR too. This week we started something new to us. They have put all the prayer requests that are written on the communication cards in baskets on the stage. Then during worship the congregation can go up and pray over a card. It was amazing to see all the people go up and pray for our churches requests. It added an element to the worship. You felt that you were cheering them on while they prayed with the awesome worship.

I am glad to hear that you and your family are doing so well done there and are happy. May God continue to bless you!!
