Worship Set List – October 28: Good coffee goes fast, sound in the green room and a fiery sermon

Worshipbnnr From our worship today at Sunridge Community Church.

I loved the “fire retardant” analogy by pastor Greg Sidders this morning.   Listen to his explanation of three very important theological words:  justification, redemption, propitiation, .  Go here to download the sermon!  The “fire retardant” thing was appropriate given the SoCal firestorms this past week.  Greg shared our connections to churches in San Diego and foreshadowed the help we will give and led us in a time of kneeling and prayer for the victims of the fires.

My worship team went through a year without a worship pastor and for some reason this meant on Sundays that taking care of feeding them and the simple necessity as coffee were absent.  This week I added a burr grinder, and some coffee goodies.  We went through 3 pots of coffee and one French press carafe.  This tells me the obvious–good coffee always goes fast.  The excellent “Sumatra” beans were a local roast from Cafe Bravo.  Feel the love.

Another thing this morning was that the sermon audio was fixed thanks to Jeremy.  It is good to be able to not have to ever miss the sermon or cue to return to the stage.  Our green room is in some need of TLC given the fact that there are torn sofas and two-year-old coffee creamers that are better used as landfill and glue.

The worship set was a repeat of a couple songs we have been learning.  Also, I got to do the “Welcome” time.  All I can say is that I really heard the congregation sing today!  Here are the songs.

How was your worship weekend?

  1. I love the mental image of the creamers as glue, or some sort of wallpaper paste, perhaps. Loads of people loved this mornings worship. Even my parents – who are the first to tell me things sound rubbish – liked it.

  5. Dude I love to see you brining the things we had back alive there. Now the question is do they have better cooks?

  9. I wasn’t playing or singing this weekend. But when it came down to the communion, the person who was doing sound had to go to the front to help with that, since he was an elder. I believe his son was suppose to do but he had to leave early. There was nobody to man the sound board. So, I tapped the worship leader on the shoulder to see if the team was planning on singing during communion. Needless to say I jumped back there and took care of business. It was fun.
