Today at Sunridge Community Church we continued the series in Romans 1-5 (Bridge to God: How safe is yours?) with pastor Greg Sidders (Find the messages here). This week was a bit heavy, challenging the religious person to not think they were any better than the worst seen in society at large. God’s holiness was a theme in our worship singing, so even though we rocked out as usual, the weight of God as a judge was part of our dialog with God this morning.
Also, I am sorry I have no pictures of our lighting yet. One thing to add here is that we had a “production malfunction” with our Styrofoam. Styrofoam does look cool as a lighting back drop material, but as a production novice I had a design flaw in how we attached the panels to each other. We luckily had some sail fabric in panels that got the same effect. Much thanks to Mike (AKA “bunny”) and Jason who came early and hung the panels.
We had a guest today–Tyler on the drums and backing vocals. It was great to have him since not only is he a good drummer, he can sing backups while playing. Great job Tyler! I broke from sitting at the piano and did a couple songs standing behind my Korg Triton Extreme 88. That was fun and a bit different from the previous weeks here at Sunridge. Also, we did some spontaneous things with the set so that each service felt fresh to us and to stretch ourselves in seeing how we can get our people to participate. This meant going a capella or switching up tags on a couple tunes each service. The spontaneity seemed to work well, too.
OK, enough of that. Here are the songs from this Sunday.
- Your Name Is Holy (key E) – Brian Doerksen
- Forever (key A) – Chris Tomlin
- Everything Glorious (key C) – David Crowder
- Majesty (key C) – Delirious?
- We Fall Down (key E) – Chris Tomlin
How was your worship weekend?
