Worship Set List: August 4-5

Worshipbnnr

This weekend at the Celebration worship services we did gospel shouts!  What fun.  We improved on the phrase "God is good…all the time" after singing the Morris Chapman version and after "Amazing Grace."  Cheryl co-led.  Wow.  Her leadership on "The Power of the Cross" by Stuart Townend was the highlight for me.  You could hear a pin drop at the end of that powerful song as it capped our time of Communion.  And, yes, once again our Green Room gourmet streak was in force.

Sharon put together a quiche-like dish and peach cobbler.  But, the more moving part of the breakfast was the ID cards Sharon wrote for each place setting, complete with china.  My ID list:  Faithful husband, Loving father, caring worship pastor.  She blessed us all with these.  Our sermon series right now is "ID"–about our identity in Christ.  Todd Skinner brought it home well with the message on "Acceptance in Christ."

I played the guitar once again on a couple tunes, and had Cheryl Dummer co-lead with me. The music set list:

  • Everlasting God (Brenton Brown)
  • That’s Why We Praise Him (Tommy Walker)
  • Majesty (Delirious?)
  • The Power of The Cross (Stuart Townend)
  • Amazing Grace (John Newton)
  • God is Good (Morris Chapman)
  • God is  Good JAM…RK and Band!!

GOD is good…ALL the time!  How was your worship weekend?

  9. Hi Rich and friends!
My weekend was a little scary, but then it turned out really good. God IS good ALL the time! And it’s just amazing to see how he works through trials.

You see… we normally have two bands each weekend that I’m in charge of. One is for the high school service, and one is for the junior high service. HS meets on Sunday mornings and JH meets Saturday nights and Sunday mornings.

This particular weekend, however, we ended up only having enough players for one “Superband” (as we called it).

We were down on players in both bands already, and then one guy called in sick. (food poisoning; he’s ok now!) So I had to think fast. I saw that we had a pretty good band, if we were all in the same band. So I ran with it.

On Thursday (our practice day), I lead from Acoustic and vocals, Chad (the JH worship leader) played electric, we had Katie on bass, Lilly on drums, Zach (JH’s normal bass player) on acoustic, and Jen on vocals as well. We also have a new player that joined us named Garrett. He’s IN junior high, and he’s got a lot of great potential on the acoustic guitar!

On Saturday it was different because Katie and Lilly couldn’t make it to the evening service because of work. So I lead from the bass guitar, Chad was at my side with electric and vocals, and we had Zach on the drums. So the three of us served the Saturday night junior high kids, and it was interesting. The sound was a little off, but it’s hard to know what is the cause of that in this case.

But Sunday was back to the “normal” Superband again, and all went pretty well!

This week we have a pretty similar SUPERBAND thing going on, but I won’t bore you guys with anymore details 😉
