Oral tradition is reliable in scripture…why?

Roberts always does an excellent job explaining to the average guy deep Christian thoughts, theology and practice with his blog.  This series about trusting the accuracy of the gospels is no exception and a must read, I think.  Often, people use “oral tradition” arguments to poke holes in scripture, so this is very timely for the water cooler today.
