I knew something was up when I saw name place cards, china and the table clothe set up in the green room. The green room is the dumpy backstage area (formally a storage room) where our worship people hang out during weekend worship services. We are treated well sometimes with blueberry pancakes and such, so we have some familiarity with amazing treatment. However, this treat was like no other. Sharon, with her motorized wheelchair, pushed in a buffet worthy of celebrities. Sharon, who has been a part of our church for years, really loves our team and reveled in serving us. Yes, we do not deserve this. However, she deserved the joy of serving. This kind of thing puts a lot into perspective. Here a gal rides her wheelchair to church to serve at least a couple times every week, is scheduled to go on a mission trip. She obviously does not let a disability keep her from being involved or settle for less than being a contributor. There are many in our church who have more means and health who have a lesson to learn. We all should see Sharon as an example. When is the last time you reveled in lavishing service on someone?
