I have been out of leading worship for two weekends and still not recovered completely from my surgery, so I have been fortunate to have had some great replacements such as Mike Baldwin, Staci Frenes and this week…Bill Giovannetti? Well, not Bill like most people thought at first. But, his identical twin brother, Bob Giovannetti from the Chicago area. Here is the scenario. My pastor is Bill and he has a twin brother that he has told nearly no one here in Redding about. Why? Because he has been scheming to pull a fast one on the congregation for four years.
Today was the day. Bob, his brother, was kind enough to put together an excellent worship song service for us with the bonus of a fantastic original Christmas song. The congregation walks in and thinks, of course, that he is Bill. They are amazed that our lead pastor actually can play guitar and lead worship and even write songs! We have a fun worship set. (I had a great view since I was well enough to attempt piano this weekend on the worship team). We get to the end, and out walks Bill. Both Bob and Bill on the same stage… GASP! You could hear the air escape the room and then the roar of laughter and applause each Celebration Service. What a blast. "I want to introduce you to Bob, my twin brother…" said Bill. Most of the congregation was fooled and loved it. This gives you a picture of some of the fun we have at Neighborhood Church of Redding.
