American Idol Tie?

American_idol_logo_lr_1Well, not for real, but certainly in my home.  Taylor and Kat were both strong in their own right tonight and my kids are split on it.  At least it was an entertaining night.  I loved Taylor’s purple coat and opener and was certainly blown away by Katherine’s "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" rendition.  Who will win?  Wow.  If I predict I might shake the balance of my domestic life.  So, I will wait and stay quiet on the subject until after the results are in!

However, I would love to hear what my readers and friends out there think!

  1. Taylor in a landslide. Kat’s really got nothing special. Honestly, who would really buy a CD with “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” on it? Simon? Kat’s voice just doesn’t have any character or flavor to it and honestly I thought the last song showed some real deficiencies. Plus, people are just lovin’ Taylor who is going to inherit quite a bit of the Elliott votes.
But again, Taylor tends to ruin the mood everytime but shouting “soul patrol”. Can he just perform and then shut up? That would be nice for a change as it wouldn’t ruin the mood. Just a shame that Elliott didn’t make it all the way.

  5. Taylor all the way. After all, between my household and my daughter’s, he received 1000 votes last night.

  9. I think I’d have to give the nod to Taylor. He’s been my underdog favorite from the very beginning.
Of the top 4 — Elliott Yamin, Chris Daughtry, Taylor and Katherine… I think it would be a tough call to decide which one should be “crowned” the next American Idol. But I also think I would have preferred Chris Daughtry or Elliott Yamin over Katherine.

No doubt she has a powerful voice, but I think she’d get lost in a sea of pop stars. I told Ashleigh last night, that she could be the next Nora Jones type because her style lends easily to the jazzy and bluesy styles. In spite of what Simon Cowell says, I think her best perfomance was NOT “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, but rather “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree, ” the first time go-’round. I think it just suits her style.

I’d buy Taylor’s CD… assuming I have the extra dinero to buy one. I’d even buy Elliott’s and Chris’ purely based on their own unique vibes and styles. I dunno if I’d be as quick to buy Katherine’s CD until I knew what I was getting genre-wise.

That’s why I’d vote — if I really cared about this — for Taylor.
