What a treat this morning was for me. This picture is of me and my daughter, Emilie, at her 12th birthday last month. She loves playing her guitar and singing to Jesus. And, she is a worship leader! Her Jr. High youth group has her playing guitar and singing and she helps lead her class at Redding Christian School in worship.
What happened this morning was another one of those special moments for me as a dad and as a pastor. My daughter and I led the chapel service in worship this morning. Emilie’s voice is so fantastic, but singing with her was amazing! She harmonzied and sang with such passion for God. She helped pick the set list and also played her guitar with me. I broke a string during our first song. Her voice was so big that I just dug in too much on the strings. So, after our worship set I had to borrow her guitar to share a song I wrote with the kids.
So I am proud of her and humbled that God would put such a child in my care! She will certainly be so much more talented and skilled as a worship leader when she is my age. What a great thought!
