Talking to God in Public

When you think of talking to God, you might think that the only thing is the prayer closet. Really, talking to God can be a public endeavor. He likes it when we praise Him in front of others. See if you can buy into the idea that evangelism is closely connected to praise and dialogue with God. Psalm 66:1-4

Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you. All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.” Selah

Worship is about responding appropriatlely to who God is and what He has done (His works). In the first part of this psalm we see that God is praised for His deeds. In fact, the praise is global and personal. We declare to God and the world. When we praise God in public, we are making a statement not only to the earth and but to our God. I think a lot of our problems with our faith today is that we want to keep it all private and boxed in. In countries where you might lose your life for proclaiming your faith, I can understand. In America, this is our privelege and calling–to publically praise God and live our our faith. So, shout with joy, say praiseworthy things and sing to God. This is not a quiet proposition! Our vision should be of an entire earth that praises God. He is worthy of nothing less.
