Worship Recap & Set List: Venture Christian Church July 17, 2011

Recap: This weekend we programmed space for a “ministry time” right after the sermon. The idea was to take communion self-serve then offer people a chance for prayer. One thing that is interesting about modern worship music is with all its loops and structure, you have to go old school and strip down to be flexible during a point in the service when the volume and mood is flowing. So, for our group this is something new and I look forward to seeing how we learn how to both execute the “sound” in our high energy call to worship as well as flow and show sensitivity for times when we wish to be spontaneous. What fun!

Set List: Our set list included songs about putting priority on God and his agenda first since the book of Haggai speaks of the contrast of people building their own homes while neglecting God’s house. It was not a tight fit, but I think “Empty Me” and “All We Need” were very close. Here is our set list with the artist or band we most closely covered.

  • Everlasting God – Lincoln Brewster
  • Your Grace Is Enough – Matt Maher
  • All We Need – Charlie Hall
  • Our God – Chris Tomlin
  • Empty Me – Jeremy Camp

  1. Rich, I think those two songs, in particular, go well with the theme. We haven’t used “Empty Me” in a while. I’d also like Tomlin’s “Enough.” We toss in a hymn from time to time: “I Surrender All” or maybe “I’d Rather Have Jesus.”
