Twitter a tool for terrorism says the US Army: how can a social media tool help Jihad?

Somehow the US Army believes that Twitter can be used as a tool for terrorists.  I do not buy this out right, but concede that they have a point.

Here at CNET you can read the full story: US Amy warns of twittering terrorists.

What is your thought:  does Twitter frighten you or is it simply microblogging–as good or bad as any kind of blogging?

  1. Well, I don’t think Twitter is any more of a tool that terrorists can use than anything else. We can’t shut down the internet or cell phone usage because of terrorist usage, can we? I think it is another case of putting tha blame anywhere except for where it really lies. Kind of like, guns don’t kill people, people do…

  5. Hmm . . . sure it’s a tool, it can be used by anyone for anything. I think that because of that we must use Twitter as a tool for God. As for Craig’s comment about guns, I agree. Guns are the tool that kill the person, but they don’t have the will to kill alone. In the right hands, like my brothers who is a US Marine, it is a tool for justice. In the hands of a murderer it is a tool for murder, in the hands of someone who is not trained it’s no longer a tool it’s a liability. I don’t think we can blame the inanimate objects or software that has no will of it’s own for the wrong in the world or the wrong that is associated with it, we have to blame the sin nature of man and the influence of The Evil One.

  9. anything can be twisted and used as a tool for evil, just as it was intended for good. I’m sure there’s some disgruntled mac using muslim that has written a program called, iJihad.
