French Press Coffee….the best!

Lg_sspress8cThe best cup of coffee you can find is one you can make.  All you need is a burr grinder and a French press with some hot water.  Use bold or dark roasted beans for rich flavor.  But, any roast of your choice will work.

Trust me on this one.  Go and buy a $34.00 press, an $84.00 burr grinder and any tea kettle.  You put the grinder on a coarse setting, scoop the appropriate amount–stronger if I am coming over–and pour 180-degree water on top of the grinds.  Stir the grinds, put the cover on, and wait 4 minutes to plunge.

The plunge part is fun!

The coffee press pictured here is from Starbucks and is great.  It can keep your coffee warm for hours.

Have you enjoyed coffee press coffee lately?

  1. French press is amazing!! I learned how to make it during training at Starbucks and wow is it fun doing the plunge haha (am I a dork as a result now? hahah)
The ice idea is key too — at least you don’t waste any and iced coffee is just amazing anyways

  5. Rich, your posts about coffee are every bit as engaging as your posts about worship. Good stuff. I’m adding this one to del.icio.us.

  9. The press might keep your coffee warm but pressed coffee starts to go bad after the first 20 minutes or so – it’s really not good to let it sit even IF it stays hot – – that is if you care about coffee that doesn’t taste bitter and stale 😉
But you’re right, press pot/french press coffee is truly a gift from the Divine.

  13. Makeesha…LOL, I don’t think my coffee has ever lasted 20 minutes anyway!
If I do have left over, I put it into ice cubes, or ice it up. A bit of cane sugar covers a multitude…

  17. With you all the way buddy. After having broken the glass on my Bodum (again) I’m using a borrowed four cup no-brand which is doing well as a stop-gap. However, I’ve promised myself a Bodum stainless steel insulated 8 cup for my birthday. Unbreakable and will keep that coffee toasty-warm past the 20min danger point – I like to live dangerously.
    Can’t wait.
