19 years together…boy time flies!!

Yes, my wife and I celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary today!  This is one of my favorite recent family pictures–taken at the beach in San Clemente, CA.  It’s appropriate since our first year of marriage was spent while helping a church plant in that very city.

What seems weird is that I feel no different in some ways–other than my aches and pains.  All these years have flown by.  Really, it is hard to believe.  Of course so was my hair back then.

My sweet wife is a testimony of a pastor’s wife who has held together a home and who should be honored for taking care of the four of us in ways only a godly and worthy woman could.  (Sweet, I love you. I call you sweet since the opposite never comes to mind when I think of you.)

We were young church planters.  What were you doing when you started out in life?

  1. I’ve “started out” so many times… not sure what to say…
I’m in the process of starting again, so here’s where I am now:

Divorced, father of a beautiful, 6-year-old son, rediscovering my relationship with God and discovering a passion for youth and family ministry, newly a student again as I pursue a Master’s degree from AW Tozer Theological Seminary, truly blessed!

    Peace, Rich (et al).

  5. First of all, congratulations on 19 years with your wife. I don’t have to tell you the trials and hardships that go along with that. Sounds like the two of you have been through all of that and have come through shining on the other side. That’s a real testament to your commitment to God and each other.
I started out life as a music teacher, took some U-turns in there a time or two, and was actually out of education for about 7 years. I’m now a school counselor and still trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up.

  9. If I know anything, and I’m an idiot who knows nothing, I know you are a great example of what kind of husband I want to be when I find the right lady. Cheers to you! … and your wife. And your family.

  13. Wow! First of all, congrats to both of you!
When we started out in our married life, I was finishing up an album for national release. We then started touring 3 weeks after our honeymoon. Got pregnant three months later. It was pretty exciting, and scary. My wife has been pretty stinkin’ amazing and supportive. Now, I’m a worship pastor, and we have two wonderful kids. Lovin’ life, and always working towards the next step!

  21. We lived in a little apartment and I was starting ministry with Young Life and my wife was starting the jobs that would grow here in to a graphic designer. 8 years later we have 3 children and one on the way – are on this incredible journey with God and wouldn’t change a thing!
    (Congrats!)
