Obviously, for those in the know, Easter season is busy and this past week meant little blogging time. Easter means a grand celebration, however, so it has all been worth it. Here is the run down for what happened today as we celebrated the resurrection of Christ.
Yes, I am biased, but it is TRUE that our worship band and worship choir ROCKED! We used loops on a couple tunes which seemed to work fine for us. Our signature song was our closer, “He Reigns” by the Newsboys. At the end of service two the room seemed to catch on fire! That was the most fun I have had in years right there! Besides that, the whole worship time, video and message really hit well as a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus.
We did a Video Venue and the vibe was cool! Terrence, our youth pastor, led worship and set the room up with tables. This might be a good test run for Sunridge as far as the possibilities of doing worship venues or adding a service targeted to either young adults.
The video we did was underscored by Fernando Ortega’s “Give Me Jesus” and had landscape photography from our pastor, Greg Sidders. We asked the congregation: “What has Jesus done in your life that proves to you He is still alive? The message by Greg was a clear gospel invitation and preamble to the series we begin next week.
After our great Sunday morning of worship, my family visited for the first time a homeless ministry started by people in our small group called The Brook. This ministry is a picnic at a park where families go and potluck and share with the homeless. Clothes and other items are there and the idea is to build relationships. What is so humbling is to see the same people who were helping me lead worship and who have family activities for Easter eating with homeless people in a park on the same day. I can see now why it is hard to keep people away from the contagious spirit in our worship and small group.
Here is the music we did today:
- King of Glory – Third Day
- Mighty to Save – Joel Houston
- Christ the Lord is Risen Today (hymn)
- Jesus Paid it All – Passion
- My Savior My God – Aaron Shust
- He Reigns – Newsboys
How was your worship weekend?
